COUNCILLOR SAM COLEMAN
Rother District Councillor & Equity UK YMC
On May 2nd 2019 I was elected to represent the people of Sidley on Rother District Council. Also in May, I was re-elected as a member of the Equity Young Members Committee.
I am a proud, working class socialist and have committed myself to improving the lives of those worst off in society and championing causes of social justice wherever they may occur.
As a Councillor, I was elected on 5 pledges and as of May 2020, just a year into my 4 year term I have already delivered or made good progress on every single pledge. I have been a key member of the Rother Alliance, the cross-party ruling group on Rother District Council, playing a key role within the Climate Emergency steering group and the anti-poverty task and finish group as well as leading on young peoples' issues including the re-establishment of the Bexhill Youth Council and a successful Youth Summit with key stakeholders of youth provision in the Rother area.
